In this review, i'll give my thoughts on the Christmas TV special - How the Grinch stole Christmas 1966 in a non spoiler and spoiler review. I'll try not to give important details away in the non spoiler review.

Non spoiler review

Wow! Just wow! I'm blown away by how incredible this TV special is! The music, animation, storytelling, everything is so full of energy and life.

Story - The story is simple - the Grinch plans to ruin Christmas for whoville with his dog Max. Nevertheless, the way this TV special was relentless in delivering power, charm, and humor.

I loved how there are loads of small details that make the story more interesting. For example, when the narrator explains the story as the Grinch talks, you could interpret it as the Grinch's actual voice or the narrator's interpretation and impersonation of his voice.

There were many highlights of the special that stood out to me.

When the whos sing as one, it gets emotional.

Soundtrack - The beautiful opening song really warms you and instantly absorbs you into the story. The melody as well as the lyrics are joyful, catchy, and well-crafted. I loved the lyrics use of alliteration. The song is full of thanksgiving, purity, and hope for the Christmas spirit. Its deeply spiritual. I loved the rhymes.

The songs that follow are so energetic especially when the vocals emphasize some syllables more than others! They make you want to help the characters set up Christmas decorations!

I loved how the film does a splendid job in introducing you to a world where anything is possible with the lyrics, characters of different sizes and shapes, colors, clothes, etc.

The instrumental music makes you feel how sinister the Grinch is with its apparently random rhythm.

The song "you're a mean one, mr. Grinch!" is one of the highlights of the Christmas special! Its extremely catchy and full of style! The Broadway musical kind of rhythm and tone make you feel how shameful the Grinch is. At times, the singer seems to vent his anger and disgust with the Grinch while singing.

The music does a great job of expressing the chaos and sneakiness of the Grinch. I love how the songwriter exaggerates the Grinch's wickedness not only to add humor but also add style to the song.

Animation - I loved how colorful the animation was. It's bright. I loved how one character smoothly ran down the stairs! I loved the subtle reference to "the apple of your eye" idiom when Cindy holds an apple and it appears to shrink in the Grinch's eye.

Characters - The characters are full of charm and depth. They're interesting although they have no speaking roles. You learn alot from the characters' body language as well as their speech.

I loved how the different voices singing together sounded united despite being made up of different individuals. The whos are presented as innovators.

When we're introduced to Cindy lou, you can feel the glee and purity emanating from her! She's adorable to a point where you just want to care for her.

I loved how the Grinch's grin and hair changed. It really shows you how sinister he is!

I loved how the Grinch is bent out of shape, emphasizing his crooked morals. When he taps his finger, he's calculating how to cause mischief on whoville.

Cinematography - The cinematography is amazing. When the cam. takes shots of the Grinch from a lower angle, it makes you feel the Grinch is a tyrant looming over you along with whoville. When the cam. shifts down on whoville from a higher angle, it also makes the same effect.

I loved how the Grinch's home towers over whoville. Already, you get the sense the Grinch is a tyrant.

The seemingly random and unusual language as well as the culture of whoville gives you the impression the whos are unpredictable. They go with the flow.

I really loved how the characters faced the cam. when talking to you. It makes you feel you're part of the story!

Acting - The acting is outstanding! The narrator has such a strong but gentle and interesting presence! He had tons of energy! Without him, i don't think the Grinch would've been successful.

Dialogue - Even when narrating, every line feels poetic with rhymes.

Overall, How the Grinch stole Christmas 1966 is a timeless classic masterpiece. I highly recommend you buy it on DVD and rewatch it.

Spoiler review

Wow! Just wow! I'm blown away by how incredible this TV special is! The music, animation, storytelling, everything is so full of energy and life.

There were many highlights of the special that stood out to me.

I love how the Grinch realizes what he's about to lose and saves his dog. When the Grinch's heart grew in response to what he saw, that was emotional.

When the whos sing as one, it gets emotional.

I loved how during the sleigh scene, the Grinch really shows you he needs to have his way when he forces Max in front of the sleigh even when he sees he can't carry such a massive sleigh.

When Cindy shows up and confronts the Grinch, that was dramatic. You really feel for Cindy. She's innocent and pure. She doesn't even know or suspect he could hurt her.

What made this very heart-warming was how the Grinch goes from being the villain to the hero. In a way, i feel he was secretly good from the beginning. He wanted to know if Christmas was really more than just about materialism.

I loved how the film does a splendid job in introducing you to a world where anything is possible with the lyrics, characters of different sizes and shapes, colors, clothes, etc.

When the Grinch complains about the whos, the music makes you feel the chaos with repetitious sounds.

The instrumental music makes you feel how sinister the Grinch is with its apparently random rhythm.

The song "you're a mean one, mr. Grinch!" is one of the highlights of the Christmas special! Its extremely catchy and full of style! The broadway musical kind of rhythm and tone makes you feel how shameful the Grinch is. At times, the singer seems to vent his anger and disgust with the Grinch while singing.

I loved the subtle reference to "the apple of your eye" idiom when Cindy holds an apple and it appears to shrink in the Grinch's eye. When the Grinch expects the whos to come out of their homes and find them walking out as if nothing happened, that is powerful. The driving force was the music and animation

The star in the center was a symbol of hope but could also be the Christmas spirit.

She's adorable to the point where you just want to care for her.

When you see the drums play against the Grinch's head, you see and feel how tormented he is by the noise he perceives from whoville.

When you're introduced to the Grinch, you feel this character's unhappy and angry because of a past experience.

I loved how the Grinch's grin and hair changed. It really shows you how sinister he is!

I loved how the Grinch is bent out of shape, emphasizing his crooked morals. When he taps his finger, he's calculating how to cause mischief on whoville.

When you take a glimpse of the Grinch's home, its almost empty. The only things we find are the tools he uses to make his Santa suit and the red curtain. This tells you the Grinch only lives to make others suffer.

When the Grinch slithers like a snake, that really emphasizes his cunning and evil kind of personality.

I loved how the Christmas special introduced the dog. You feel he's a cheerful character who was enslaved to bad circumstances.

Cinematography - The cinematography is amazing. When the cam. takes shots of the Grinch from a lower angle, it makes you feel the Grinch is a tyrant looming over you along with whoville. When the cam. shifts down on whoville from a higher angle, it also makes the same effect.

I hope by the end of this article, i can convince you to watch as well as listen to Opera especially if you've never had any experience with Opera.

Opera is poetry, music, and dramatic storytelling all in one - Opera stands out because of this. You can watch Opera as well as listen to it. Other genres can have "stories" in music videos but not to the extent Opera has them.

Opera houses are special - Opera houses can be breathtakingly beautiful which can enhance the overall experience of Opera. Opera houses can make you feel like a guest. Opera houses are built so fans can see the stage from the comfort of their seats from different floors and distances. Opera houses can have a long tradition and art for you to explore before or after the Opera. In many other genres, live concerts are awful physically. Concert halls all look the same. Being in a crowd can make you feel like you're in a herd of cattle crammed in a confined area. Some people report not being able to see artists because of people's arms or heights blocking the view. Heat can cause fans to pass out. Concert halls in other music genres aren't as glamorous. The focus is solely on the music.

Opera singers don't use mics or lip sync - It's extremely rare for Opera singers to lip sync. On the other hand, it seems common for artists in other genres to lip-sync and use mics. It feels like a scam to pay to see artists who only pretend to sing when they feel like it.

Opera is very demanding - Opera singers have to sing over the orchestra and act at once. It's physically and emotionally demanding. Musicians of other genres aren't held up to those standards.

Opera is powerful - Opera singing is physically and emotionally powerful. I've heard people say Opera allows people to express emotion more than other genres. Whether characters are expressing anger, sorrow, hate, or joy in their singing - vibrato helps them to effectively do it well. You can feel their emotions from every note they sing to the music. Characters can only speak so much before speaking is futile and they must burst into song to express themselves to the fullest! Opera is also special because the story is more character-based than story-based. Opera characters have to express themselves much more strongly and dramatically than characters who simply talk in films and TV shows. Films and TV shows tend to show huge dramatic action sequences. The costume and set designs can also help make visual story-telling more dramatic.

Opera is very skilled - It takes a ton of skill to make music in Opera. In other genres, artists aren't held up to those standards. I can't stand pop singers who just play a few notes on the piano while singing. They seem to think it sounds emotional but its really mediocre and bland.

Opera can be very versatile - While people perform the same Operas, they also add fresh new interpretations of them. You can watch and/or listen to Opera. I haven't seen that much versatility in other music genres.

Once again, i hope i convinced you to give Opera a chance!

This might be an unpopular opinion but films and TV shows are overall better than video games. I'll present a case for why that is in this blog post.

Films and TV shows are more accessible than video games - Its alot more convenient and easier to enjoy films as well as shows than video games. Gaming is more expensive than films and TV shows. All you need to watch and enjoy a physical or digital copy of a film is a viewing device such as a TV or computer. Games can require internet, a console, or gaming device which can cost alot more. This is especially true if you need to upgrade to play more powerful games. You could rent a gaming service but you'd still have to pay fees periodically. You don't necessarily have to do the same with films and TV shows.

Films and TV shows have better picture quality - Video games are limited by the rendering engine in the console which depends on cam. angles, character data, the environment, etc Films and TV shows don't really have these limits so overall, they're more realistic-looking.

Films and TV shows help you learn more about the story - I'll admit that games are more interactive than TV shows and films. Nevertheless, this interaction usually doesn't add anything special to the story. For example, you're mostly killing creatures. This set up can feel more like a chore than an enjoyable experience. Sometimes, i find missions and dialogue in video games to be too repetitive. You can explore the beautiful backgrounds in video games like you would an art gallery in a museum but once you've seen them, that's it. In the film, you learn more about things that ultimately matter most - the story, characters, and how their world affects them especially when you rewatch the film. Outstanding films and TV shows cut out the things that don't advance the story. In video games, there's not much story. Even if there is, its hard to focus on it when you're feeling very tense and frustrated because you're focused on survival. When the game goes to a cutscene, you're still mentally recovering from say the last boss fight and aren't paying close attention to the story.

Films and TV shows help you connect more with the characters - People arguing in favor of video games being better than films and TV shows say "video games let you be the character.." This is a good point but how much control do you have over the main character? Films and TV shows allow you to "be the character" in the sense of knowing who he/she is, his/her struggles, etc. In films, you feel a wide range of emotions like sadness and dread when you connect with the characters. Video games don't do that well. You're mainly worried about winning or losing.

In any video game based on the Star Wars episode 1 film, you can play as Qui Gon Jinn or Obi Wan Kenobi and maybe fight like either character. However, you won't feel the same level of intense emotions as either of them when they fought Darth Maul. You won't be able to replicate their exact moves and mindsets from the film.

If you play the Batman Arkham Asylum game for example, you can fight like Batman to some degree. You can use his gadgets. However, you most likely won't be able to fully experience what its like to be the Batman.in a video game. In the Dark Knight film, you can understand things like the burdens Bruce Wayne has to carry wearing the mask and the severe consequences of his actions.

I feel its far more rewarding for me to emotionally connect with the story and characters in films than it is to just control their actions in video games. Ultimately, solid story-telling and characters are what matter most in the end.

These are my reasons for why films and TV shows are better than video games overall. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

I will give a non spoiler and spoiler review to Astro boy 2003 complete series!

Non-spoiler review

Story:

I loved the Astro boy 2003 complete series story! Its about a robot named Astro who tries to bring peace between robots and humans.

The action in this Astro boy 2003 DVD is intense and different from normal shows. There aren't always robots fighting other robots. Sometimes, Astro has to save environments from being destroyed. Other times, there are chases. One of the things that the Astro boy 2003 complete series does best is to make you feel for the characters. There are loads of episodes that make you feel such sadness for the characters, you almost forget they're robots.

Despite the Astro boy 2003 complete series' success, the show's biggest flaw that ruined it was the fear of crossing boundaries. The dialogue was too obvious. I was irritated by characters constantly calling other characters by name and stating the obvious. One of the biggest flaws was the lack of inner conflict.

You might think "it's a children's show" but that's no excuse for bad storytelling. I feel the creators were too afraid to take risks. They probably felt if they didn't make on-the-nose dialogue, children wouldn't understand what was happening. Children understand better than they think. As a child, I laughed as I heard the dialogue because it felt so forced to where it became obnoxious. I felt the show could've powerfully got its message across had the creators trusted their audience could handle mature concepts.

What makes the Astro boy 2003 complete series special is how well it blends different emotions. The show makes you feel joy, sadness, pain, etc. When you feel them, you deeply feel them.

The Astro boy 2003 complete series ending was very satisfactory and unique.

Cinematography:

I loved the spectacular camera angles in the Astro boy 2003 DVD! You can see wide shots of Metro city and the landscape!

Characters:

These are some of the characters that stood out to me the most.

Astro - I love how different Astro is from other superheroes. Astro doesn't have many abilities. He's not a talented fighter. He's firm but not aggressive. Astro's greatest strength is his belief in harmony between robots and humans. He doesn't like fighting. He's noble, pure, and courageous. He's not afraid to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

Tenma - I loved Tenma because he's a complex villain. Its not entirely clear what he wants or who he is at first glance. Sometimes, he displays "good" traits. Other times, he has evil traits. His robot, shadow, is practically his alter-ego.

Atlas - He's an interesting villain with a tragic backstory. The battles between Atlas and Astro were some of the most intense of the show!

O'Shay - O'Shay is one of the best characters in the show. You can feel his pain when he can't help Astro. You also feel his intense love for Astro. O'Shay sometimes doubts Astro's potential but when O'Shay believes in Astro, O'Shay is willing to sacrifice his life to help Astro.

Zoran - Zoran is another unfortunate example of the Astro boy 2003 complete series' weakness. Zoran made a solid debut at the beginning of Astro boy and made the show more intense with the incredible introduction of Pluto. However, she felt somewhat unnecessary to the show after that. She didn't need to be Astro's sister to make a deep impact. I felt if she was a side character who only appeared in a few episodes, she would've been memorable.

 Animation:

The Astro boy 2003 DVD animation is breathtaking and beautiful! I loved the unique combination of cel animation with 2D animation. Everything looks hand-drawn! What impressed me about the animation is how it made you feel emotions. The background animation in some scenes made me feel very gloomy. A very minor flaw i had with the animation is it seemed a little too bright for most of the series. If the animators could've used slightly darker colors, it would've been perfect!

Theme:

Astro boy delves into heavily mature and thought-provoking themes such as if robots are living and conscious beings or will evolve into conscious beings. In fact, I think Astro boy accurately predicts the future discrimination between robots and humans. There's already fear that AI bots will cause mass unemployment and replace humans. Even with computers, people justify mistreating them - "oh they're just machines! I bought them!"

Another theme Astro boy addresses so well is dysfunctional families. Fathers never really love their sons. Fathers see them as raw materials to be manufactured and molded into who they want them to be. Fathers want them to be extensions of their false selves - their egos. This is why they might be incompatible with each other. Astro finds the meaning of family in people who aren't even biologically related to him like O'Shay.

Astro boy took brave risks in introducing such deep concepts to a young audience.

Soundtrack:

I loved the Astro boy 2003 complete series soundtrack! The theme song was memorable, catchy, and emotional. I loved how the soundtrack mixes elements of techno. with dubstep and a little bit of rock. It makes you feel you're in the future. I love how the Astro boy 2003 complete series doesn't always repeat the same music. Some of the music only plays once or twice in an episode. When it plays, it makes the action more intense and exciting!

Voice acting:

The voice actors did their best. The voice acting wasn't as good as i hoped. I couldn't fully suspend disbelief because i felt the show had the same voice actor play different characters.

Overall, i highly suggest buying the Astro boy 2003 DVD!

I was irritated by characters constantly calling other characters by name and stating the obvious. One of the biggest flaws was the lack of inner conflict. I hardly ever felt Astro's belief in harmony between humans and robots was truly tested. He always stood firm in it since episode 1. There was rarely a point where I felt he was going to break the code he lived by.

The show brought back characters that were allegedly destroyed like Atlas and Pluto. Their initial appearances were so powerful. When they made return appearances, they became less powerful and undid the emotional impact they had on us. I felt the creators could've used their destructions in past episodes to make Astro question if humans and robots could coexist.

The creators probably brought back characters like Atlas just to avoid death references because children can't handle death. To me, that reasoning doesn't make sense. They're robots. How can they die? If the show didn't bring them back, it would've made children wonder "did they die or survive? Are robots alive? Can they feel like we do?" I felt the show could've powerfully got its message across had the creators trusted their audience could handle mature concepts.

What makes the Astro boy 2003 complete series special is how well it blends different emotions. The show makes you feel joy, sadness, pain, etc. When you feel them, you deeply feel them. I was deeply disturbed by the revelation Tenma practically turned his son into a robot to try to mold him into who he wanted him to be.

The Astro boy 2003 complete series ending was very satisfactory. I loved how there was never a conclusive battle between shadow's forces and Astro boy. The blue knight, shadow, and the other robots simply left earth. We don't know if the blue knight would ever change his mind about humans and robots co-existing or continue in his robot revolution. We don't know if shadow would finally conquer the earth and rid it of humans. We don't know if humans and robots could really live in harmony. We're only left with the hope that Astro could motivate them to understand each other.

Cinematography:

I loved the spectacular camera angles in the Astro boy 2003 DVD! You can see wide shots of Metro city and the landscape!

Characters:

I love how the robots have somewhat of a hard time completely understanding human emotions while having them to some degree.

I love how despite being a seemingly flawless robot, Astro's weakness is not being able to fully understand people's emotions.

Tenma - I loved Tenma because he's a complex villain. Its not entirely clear what he wants or who he is at first glance. Sometimes, he displays "good" traits. Other times, he has evil traits. His robot, shadow, is practically his alter-ego.
